Corporate Health and Wellness

Corporate attitude toward employee health weighs heavily on the well-being of workers.

The home improvement retailer business, Lowe’s prides itself on the 38 tons of weight lost by employees in their weight loss program. Corporate health and wellness is clearly a priority to the company and has become relevant in the lives of employees as a result.

The program also:

  1. provides stress and disease management;
  2. emphasizes good life choices;
  3. offers legal and financial services;
  4. presents educational programs focusing on topics such as good lifting for healthy backs; and
  5. encourages smoking cessation and weight loss.

Nonprofit organization Families and Work Institute reports that almost 40% of employees who feel trusted and supported at work also report excellent health. This is nearly twice as high as workers who do not feel they work in this type of environment.

Programs such as this assist workers by providing tools and opportunities for healthier life choices. By participating, employees reduce health risks and improve overall quality of life.
